This course will consist of physics-based team activities where students apply concepts they have learned in class to real-world situations in preparation for competition in the NMSU Physics Olympics in April. This will include a review of concepts covered in our current physics curriculum, introduction of concepts not covered in our semester-based curriculum (simple machines, optics, geophysics, etc.), as well as career exploration in physics and engineering physics. Students can expect hands-on activities which require critical thinking as well as guest lectures. Types of activities will include question drills for the multiple-choice section and Physics Jeopardy portions of the competition, Fermi questions which focus more on reasoning than solutions, and hands-on demonstrations. Note: Students enrolling in this course must commit to participating in the Physics Olympics competition in April (takes place on a Saturday - this is only one Saturday), making them eligible for group and individual awards, including scholarships for those majoring in physics or engineering physics at NMSU. 

We will explore and practice using different mediums. Students will have the opportunity to utilize various art forms and techniques within short projects. We will also observe and analyze art from different periods of time.

A fun and creative dance class where you will learn different dance techniques; from country to salsa and everything in between.

Physical Ed./ Health on Friday’s will be having field day this year! Similar to our school wide field day but with a bit more of a variety.  We will have tournament play and game competitions. The games and tournaments we will be playing will be determined by the amount of students participating. Examples: Tournaments - Volleyball, Basketball, Flag Football, Pickleball, Volletennis, Soccer, Hockey, Lacrosse, Kickball, Dodgeball Competitive Games - Obstacle Course Relays, Darts, Bowling, Ping Pong, Tetherball, Jump Rope, Hula Hoop, Punt Pass and Kick, Horse Shoes, Strength Test I hope to see many of you sign up! It’s great to have you back and let’s have a great 2023-2024 school year!!  

We will take a deep dive into writing and illustrating humor and satire. The ultimate goal will be to produce work for publication in the campus art magazine.
